Being the text of a press conference by the Concerned Tiv Youths under the aegis of ‘Project Fairness 2027’ in solidarity with Zone C Senatorial District of Benue State for the 2027 Gubernatorial Election, in order to produce the next Benue Governor.
Project Fairness 2027 is born out of concern by most of us the Tiv Younger Generation across the 14 LGAs and the Five clans of the Tiv Dynasty, in cognizance to the fact that Benue is now 49 years by February 3rd, 2025 from February 3rd, 1976; and in all the democratic and military dispensations, we haven’t thought about testing our Brothers in Zone C, whom we consider to be the 6th clan of the Tiv nation in the spirit of ‘yanawangbian’ and in the spirit of this great day, THE SAINT VALENTINE’S DAY which represents sacrifice for the sake of humanity and godliness!
We believe that the Idoma Nation has the capacity in leading the state, haven contributed in all democratic processes both financially, physically and strategically, to electorally elect their Tiv Brothers in successive dispensations and administrations, from the era of those who served in the first and second democratic republics of His. Excellencies, former Governors Aper Aku; Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu; to this 4th Democratic dispensation from 1999 where the Idomas supported and contributed massively to the gubernatorial victories of the now SGF Senator George Akume, from 1999 – 2007; Senator Gabriel Suswam, 2007 – 2015; Dr. Samuel Ortom, 2015 – 2023 successively and now Rev. Fr. Hyacinth I. Alia.
Ordinarily, our Five (5) Tiv clans have tested the number 1 seat of Benue State and in 2023, it was done on us to support one of the Zone C Sons, but again, our sentiment for Rev. Fr. Alia came like a hurricane, and collectively, we still gave it to another Tiv Son, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
We want to appeal to our Brothers and Sister of the Tiv extraction, to consider this 6th clan, the Idoma Nation, who occupy the Benue South Senatorial district, and we need to do so now in the spirit of brotherhood , fairness, political power equation and inclusivity!
It is in this democratic regard and correctness that we kick-start THE PROJECT FAIRNESS 2027, to ensure an Idoma Man governs the state even if it going to be just one term of Four Years (4yrs.).
We therefore call on all our Leaders, both traditional and political, including the incumbent Governor Alia, to please, give this a deep thought and produce the next Benue Governor from the Zone C extraction.
